Laser Gauging System:

The Laser Gauge makes the system complete. It makes the grinder a closed loop system making feedback of offsets quick and easy. Download the wire profile parameters from the grinder over the peer to peer network, and you are ready to gage a wire. Place the wire into the clamping trough, press GAGE WIRE button. Watch the windows interface and see the profile drawn on the screen with the tolerances shown. For a closer look at a portion of the wire, use the zoom feature to get closer.

Virtual Display of Gauged results

The user friendly operator interface is a universal Windows format. All of the necessary information to gage and evaluate your product is just a mouse click away- from placing the wire into the trough, clamp it down, click "Start Gauge" icon, and watch your wire appear on the screen. During production runs, if your product is gauged and is out of tolerance, a message box will appear to alert the operator. After the wire is drawn through the laser your actual gauged result will be displayed in green. For easy identification your upper and lower tolerance are displayed in red. The graph on your screen has the capability of magnifying your product up to 1000 times for close visual inspection to inspect a section of your product routinely, save up to five different views. Reading those views is accomplished by clicking a button. All of your profiles are saved into the date set for continued reference. Not only can you refer to your product part name and description, but they are date and time stamped for accurate reference.

Hard copy color printouts are a one step process. The high resolution 8 1/2" x 11" printout magnifies your product for easy evaluation product evaluation. For record purposes, the printout includes the time and date stamp of your gauged product and your operator identifier number.

The Mechanical Details

The gage is capable of gauging any profile length fits ideally in an average work space. The ground wire is placed in a trough and clamped down. The start button on the gage screen is clicked and the stepping motor is activated. The stepping motor draws the wire through the laser recording the length and wire diameter dimensions. The Pentium computer processes the information and displays it on the 17" SVGA monitor. Your printout will come from a full color printer.

SPC (Statistical Process Control) Your gauged results

Imagine gauging your lot of 1,000 wires with the ease of clicking a mouse button. That's how easy it is with the Royal Master Laser Gauge Software Package. You can log diameter and taper deviation at the tip of your fingers, and determine the CPK of your production run. For visual results print out a histogram or an x-bar chart with your upper and lower control limits. For ease of exportability the results are saved in a form compatible to other software packages. Another option is to download the results to a disk for further analysis away from the gage station.

Hardware Features:
Diameter Measurement: Lasermike Head 200-025-05-14 Dual Axis Scanner with Intellipack interface for fast interpretation of scanned data.

Diameter Range: .0008" to .25" (.02mm to 6.35mm standard), larger sizes optional.

Linear Movement: Linear with a Sony Encoder for 42" of travel and resolution to 6349.9 counts per inch.
Operator Interface: Windows NT 4.0, Pentium Grade Computer with 17" monitor and color printer standard.

High Pressure Wheel Cleaner:

This turnkey system has been designed as a continuous operating pump which delivers pressurized water through a reciprocating nozzle located within the wheel guard of a Royal Master Centerless Grinder. The pressurized stream of water directed at the wheel, works to keep the material from loading onto the wheel, thereby reducing the frequency of wheel dress.

The 3/4 hp Super Bee pump, enclosed by a sound containment hood and located on the floor behind the grinding machine, is capable of pumping at 1/2 gallon (1.89 liters) per minute at maximum pressure of 2500 psi. The pump is to be connected to a high pressure replaceable nozzle. A cartridge filtration unit is fitted in line before the pump.

The nozzle is mounted on a reciprocating arm extending through the wheel guard cover. The motion of the arm is controlled by an air motor which is continuously extending and retracting. Independent feed controls are set for each direction of travel, and stroke limits are positioned to accommodate various width of grinding wheels up to 4.5 inches. (11.4) cm. The air motor is on top of the machine bed. A metal shroud cover encloses the air motor controls. Continuous air supply of 60 psi minimum is required to drivel this air motor.

All electrical equipment is contained in an enclosure which includes starters, heater resets, timer control and all power junctions. A two button (star/stop) operator control console can be located separately in a convenient location for the operator.

Operations of the pressurized wheel cleaner is initiated by pressing the start button. A power lamp is illuminated and the air motor is activated. The pump builds pressure and begins to spray. The system has a safety shutdown continuously monitoring line pressure from the pump.


Automatic Tip Grinder Fast Cycle Times, Smooth Surface finish, and Part to Part consistency.

Your catheter tips should be ground to generate a smooth surface finish over the entire profile while maintaining a repeatable and close dimensional tolerance. This technique is superior to other methods of tip forming in areas including part to part cycle times (six parts per minute) , and surface finish with smooth tip radii as well as transition blends. Consistency in material qualities is maintained as the material is ground away rather than moved or compressed with heat. Whether soft or rigid, braided or not, with our extensive experience in grinding catheter materials, our centerless grinding lab has developed the most efficient methods for grinding your catheter tips.

Royal Master Automatic Tip grinder is based around our model TG 12x4 centerless grinder. Tip profile lengths to 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) are ground in a single operation taking less than 10 seconds. Features of the Royal Master which provide for increased efficiency include:

  • Our proven automatic magazine part loader with large capacity hopper and adjustable length loading head, translates each part to an exact controlled grinding position.
  • Motorized exit side conveyor delivers parts to the front of the machine convenient for operator retrieval.
  • Programmable parts counter with signal light, allowing for two present intervals of part quantities.
  • Permanently mounted hydraulic single point diamond dressers which remain in position for the most accurate.
  • Royal Master offers grinding wheels to be mounted on wheel mounts with balancing weights. With mounts and moveable balancing weights, once can expect vibration less operation. Also it is convenient to have many different wheel grades premounted and balanced available for varying catheter materials.
  • Stainless components and hard chrome plate in critical areas to reduce corrosion and maintain the integrity of the machine alignment and its rigidity.
  • Carbide tipped work rest blades profiled to the contours of the catheter tip reducing vulnerability to spirals and scratches on the catheter tip.
  • Automatic cycling unit provides a repeatable six phase cycle and coordinates all loading and unloading functions.

Thrufeed Grind Catheter Bodies to close consistent diameter tolerances!

The Royal Master Centerless Grinders are ideal machines for grinding catheter bodies. With our TG 12x3 and TG 12x4 models, one has the ability to hold close consistent diameter tolerances along the entire length of your catheter body. By grinding the catheter bodies a smooth uninterrupted surface finish can be maintained and fuse bumps which surface after tip welding can be removed effortlessly.
