Royal Master’s Crush Grinders are manufactured in both 3 and 4-inch wide (76 mm and 101 mm) wheel faces with crush capabilities up to 3 inch (76 mm) profile lengths on both models. Our crush grinders have additional versatility with single point diamond dressers for both the work and regulating wheel.

Crush forming is an accurate technique for placing a form into the grinding wheel. Often a configuration may not be dressed into the grinding wheel using a single point diamond and template form, such as a small radius adjacent to a 90 degree shoulder, a flange in the middle of a part, or a slot; whereby crush form infeed grinding is required.

CRUSH GRINDING PARTS

Work piece configuration dictates why we crush dress. Often a configuration may not be dressed into the grinding wheel using a single point diamond and template form, such as a small radius adjacent to a 90 degree shoulder, a flange in the middle, or a sharp slot; whereby, crush form grinding is required. Crush forming is an accurate technique for placing a form into a grinding wheel requiring little operator skill.

The crush roll usually manufactured from hardened high-speed steel or tungsten carbide is advanced into the grinding wheel rotating at approximately 180 SFPM. The pressure of the crush roll against the work wheel breaks the bond, placing the form into the grinding wheel. Crush dressing breaks away the grain leaving a sharper grinding wheel creating a faster grind, however, a lesser surface finish sometimes results.

CRUSH DRESSER

The Crush Dresser is a permanently mounted unit capable of withstanding the heavy crush forming forces for up to a 3" (76mm) wide crush roll. A 1/3hp motor gives a gear reductor transmitting the power through a timing belt to an overriding clutch to the grinding wheel spindle reducing the RPM of the grinding wheel. They heavy-duty crush roll spindle is mounted between ball bearings, this straddle bearing design prevents deflection.

The crush roll is located on a slide, which moves on a large dovetailed section. Wear adjustment is made with a straight gib. Movement of the crush roll slide is controlled by a large micrometer hand wheel graduated in .001" (.01mm) increments.
